Rotational Grazing

A Rotational Grazing system can be set up by constructing an internal fence within an already existing pasture to create several paddocks.  Paddocks are the smaller fenced off areas that are located within the pasture.  These paddocks usually lead to a common area, usually where a watering source is located.

Rotational grazing systems are growing in popularity because it enables a livestock operator to run an operation more efficiently.  By divided a pasture into paddocks, a livestock operator is able to intensively graze one paddock allowing the others to rest and recovery their vegetative cover.  Once one paddock has been grazing, the livestock operator can move the livestock to the next paddock for grazing.
