Constructed Wetland

The construction or expansion of existing wetlands can be used to purify runoff waters from sewage lagoons or feedlot situations.  Runoff waters are directed into constructed wetland cells where vegetation and micro-organisms can filter and break-down contaminates such as nitrogen, phosphorus and threatening bacteria.  The purpose of this is to reduce the amount of contaminates that may reach surface water, which will help to protect the water quality for the downstream users.
