Shock Chlorination

In response to a high level of failing results during our Annual Well Water Testing Day, LSRBCD has decided to add a Well Shock Chlorination service to its regular program menu.

Bacteria contamination can be caused by a number of things such as a well malfunction caused by cracks or a rusted casing, well location being close to a septic field or livestock storage area, excess water due to flooding or heavy rains, or contamination from surface water runoff.

The process is to pump chlorinated water into your existing well and through your water lines into your house.  The chlorinated water will remain in your pipes and well for a period of time, typically overnight, then drained using an outside water tap.
