SUMMARY OF LAND RESOURCE INFORMATION FOR THE
STEPHENFIELD LAKE
WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN
A wide range of soils and
landscapes occur within the Stephenfield Lake Watershed Management
Plan area. Significant areas of well drained, loam to clay loam, mixed
till soils with high agricultural capability occur in the
undulating upland portion of the study area. Predominantly,
imperfectly drained soil conditions occur in the more level lacustrine
soils below the Manitoba Escarpment. Dominant soil textures range from
loamy sands to clay loam with agricultural capability ratings from
Class 1 to 4 occupying large areas. Generally, water erosion is a
management consideration for the upland area while wind erosion is a
dominant factor on the sandy soils in the area below the Manitoba
Escarpment. Salt affected soils occur in a few localized areas.
